Webb Lodge #24 is named in honor of Thomas Smith Webb.

Thomas Webb was born in the State of Massachusetts on October 13, 1771. He was a bookbinder and printer. His employment took him to New Hampshire where he was initiated in Rising Sun Lodge on 12-17-1790. He moved to Albany, New York where he served as Master of Temple Lodge. He later moved to the state of Rhode Island where he served as Grand Master in 1813 - 1814.

Thomas Smith Webb is remembered for authoring his Freemasons Monitor, or Illustrations of Freemasonry in 1797. He was instrumental in promoting chapter and encampment Freemasonry, also known as the York Rite. He was founding member and first president of the Handel and Hayden society.

Thomas Smith Webb retired to Boston where he died on June 18, 1819.
